Assisted Living Long-Term Options Counseling Code Requirement Change – Aug. 1
Posted on August 1, 2024 by Bobbie Guidry
During the 2024 legislative session, the Minnesota Board on Aging removed the assisted living long-term care options counseling/verification code requirement for persons considering moving into an assisted living facility.
This change goes into effect today, Aug. 1.
Verification Code No Longer Required
As previously reported, existing and potential residents will no longer need to get a verification code before signing a lease with an assisted living facility.
However, assisted living facilities are required to share information about the Senior LinkAge Line with all prospective residents at the time of their initial facility tour or visit. A convenient way to comply with this requirement is to utilize materials available from the Senior LinkAge Line. To request the Senior LinkAge Line housing kiosk card (item #MBA-1050), call 800-333-2433 and press 1.
The Senior LinkAge Line is still available to support older Minnesotans who are considering a move. People with questions about housing or services can call 800-333-2433 and press 1. Assisted living providers can submit referrals directly to the Senior LinkAge Line through the Minnesota Board on Aging’s referral site.
