Adult Day Services Hours Extended
Posted on October 21, 2020 by Roni Falck
DHS recently amended temporary licensing requirements which now allow ADS clients to attend the ADS center for up to six hours per day.
This is an increase from the previous maximum duration of four hours per day. Providers will need to determine whether they will provide one six-hour shift per day or two shifts of up to four hours per day. Service hours must fall within the days and hours reported to the DHS Licensing Division via the COVID-19 Notification About Resuming Facility Operation for Adult Day Centers. DHS may take action if a center operates beyond their reported days or hours of service. This action may include temporarily suspending the license to provide services until the health and safety of the participants can be ensured.
The increase in service hours was effective October 16, 2020 and may remain in effect through the end of the COVID-19 peacetime emergency declared by the governor. License holders must continue adhere to Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and must establish and implement a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan as set forth in Emergency Executive Order 20-74, paragraph 7e. In addition, license holders must continue to follow additional requirements regarding physical plant and space, capacity, cohort size, duration of shifts, screening protocols and other measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Providers are encouraged to participate in LeadingAge Minnesota’s weekly ADS Huddle on Thursday (10/22) at 3:00 to discuss the increase and connect with other providers. Click here to participate.
