Adult Day: DWRS Funding in House Budget Targets
Posted on April 17, 2018 by Jodi Boyne
Adult day providers received some good news last week when Minnesota House Republicans released budget targets that included funding to prevent a cut in Disability Waiver rates.
We first covered the proposed cut to DWRS rates in the March 13 issue of Advantage, and adult day providers immediately kicked into action! Thank you for sending action alerts and meeting with your lawmakers to share how this cut would hurt your ability to invest in staff and services that help individuals remain in their homes and support family caregivers.
The $10 million in the House bill will be used to base DWRS rates on wages in the metro area, use those rates statewide and update rates every two years instead of every five years.
The Minnesota Senate has not yet released its budget targets, but a similar bill to fix the DWRS rate cut has bipartisan support and has made important committee deadlines. Stay tuned to Advantage and your email for updates.
