PURPOSE Care centers that participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs are required to be in compliance with the recently updated Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance on minimum health and safety standards in Long-Term Care (LTC) Facilities by Oct. 24, 2022.Part 3 – Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders
Clarifications to behavioral health regulations include the importance of having qualified staff to properly assess and identify mental health issues and Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) in potential residents. Care planning, proper use of resident behavioral contracts, and resident rights to property/privacy are also a focus of updates that will be covered.
