LeadingAge Minnesota to Offer Assisted Living Director Licensing Course
Posted on January 13, 2021 by Bobbie Guidry
LeadingAge Minnesota is in the process of applying to be an approved provider of the training that will be required for an individual seeking an assisted living director licensure in Minnesota. This training will be required of anyone who does not meet the requirements to apply for licensure as a legacy director.
All assisted living settings in Minnesota will be required to have a licensed assisted living director as a result of the assisted living licensure law passed in 2019 which is scheduled to go into effect on Aug. 1, 2021.
The LeadingAge Minnesota course is anticipated to begin this summer and will prepare individuals to serve as assisted living directors and to take their licensing examinations.
Any current directors who do not meet the legacy requirements for licensure will be able to apply to the Board of Executives of Long Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) to be an Assisted Living Director in Residence (ALDIR) and, with support of a mentor, serve as the director as they work to complete the training and licensing process. Individuals are permitted as an ALDIR for one year.
The course will include approximately 120 hours of training. Watch for more information on the LeadingAge Assisted Living Director licensing course in upcoming weeks!
